Brazil will mandate visitors from the U.S., Australia and Canada obtain an e-visa prior to entering the country starting January 10, 2024, according to Embratur, Brazil tourism's board.

Starting January 10, 2024, Brazil will require an e-visa for tourists from the U.S., Australia, and Canada, reversing a visa waiver policy in place since 2019. The move is seen as retaliation against these countries for not waiving visa requirements for Brazilians. Brazil has secured a reciprocal visa exemption agreement with Japan, which will take effect on September 30, 2023.
