When an airline offers a promotion, it should honor it. Not very complicated. That's especially true in a community where Frontier is scaling back service.
Taking a page from Southwest's playbook, Frontier is making the little-known New Jersey airport its East Coast hub. More than a dozen airlines have failed at making a go at Trenton Mercer Airport, but Frontier hopes success on the horizon.
Once again, a global distribution system, in this case Travelport, goes to bat for itself and travel agents, trying to thwart airlines from freely doing business and providing incentives to their own customers.
While airlines can't directly offer lower prices than OTAs, it can withhold certain benefits, and that's what Frontier and others are trying, to attract users directly to their sites.
