Days after Lebanon was ready to sue an American TV series for an unfair portrayal of its capital city, a car bomb exploded and demonstrations over took the city leading to a drop in tourism that the country badly wanted to avoid.

While some criticism is justified and nothing will happen with these protests against portrayal, case of bad timing as well, after today's big bomb blast in Beirut.

One would assume a smoking ban is the least influential factor causing a recent drop in tourism -- the constant threat of regional warfare boiling over may be a bigger influence -- but hotel and restaurants owners want officials to know that it's definitely not helping either.

Considering its history of being dragged into the battles that others want to wage, Lebanon's success in maintaining stability throughout regional uprisings is inspiring, as is its continued attempts to reach a diverse range of visitors and businesses.
