RateGain, a 15-year-old travel tech firm, wants to position itself for growth post-pandemic by raising capital. Its private equity sponsor TA Associates also wants a payday, and no wonder.

RateGain, a travel tech company backed by private equity, said it has begun a roll-up of hotel tech vendors. It joins a party led by Shiji, Amadeus, Accel-KKR-backed Travel Tripper, Sabre, and Jonas Software.

Hotels are hiring companies to clamp down on online travel sites displaying cheap rates against their wishes. One of those startups, Fornova, has just bought smaller rival HotelsBI to broaden its rate-detection service.
