TSA bring out the best of trolls, and all kinds of politicians line up to shout in the loudest voice against TSA because it is the populist thing to do. This may be one of those jumping-on-the-bandwagon cases.

We don't need pocket knives on airplanes. Kudos to American Airlines in getting a little more aggressive in asking for a reassessment of the proposed policy.

One of the problems -- and there are many -- with the use of personal data and the current trusted traveler programs is that the redress mechanisms are a joke. There has to be a way to get a little more transparency into the progams.

It’s a good sign that the PreChcek initiative continues to steadily expand, but expansion means little to the frequent flyers whose airline does not yet participate in the program.

Congress will likely only allow the sequestration cuts to last as long as the first weekend the members try to fly home to their districts. Nothing like sticking a congressman in a long, angry line to make him a little more flexible.

Fewer TSA and customs agents means longer lines and wait times, but tourism is too lucrative during the summer season for the worst case scenario outlined here to become a reality.

TSA wins even when it loses, how does that happen?

Not that we would complain with less TSA, but it would only end up delaying more of our travel plans and airport wait times, which will cause real pain. And then the more serious matter of less security.
