United's Polaris rollout may not go as quickly as originally planned thanks to a shortage of airplane seats. In the meantime, business travelers wait impatiently.

Passengers traveling through Newark's Terminal C have some more efficient security lines to look forward to thanks to a new integration from United Airlines.

Perhaps it's fitting that United is dropping its duty free program in the same year it is retiring its Boeing 747s. Both harken back to a different time in aviation.

United is being coy about what Zodiac's production issues mean for its new Polaris seats, but we can assume it's probably not good news for the airline.

Consumers aren't going to like this product, but Basic Economy fares are a sign of the times. Travelers are already buying tickets on Spirit and Frontier that come without free large carry-ons, so why shouldn't American and United offer a similar option?

American has been a big player in Chicago for decades, and that probably won't change. But United President Scott Kirby is one of the most fierce competitors in the airline industry. If he says he wants to win in Chicago, he means it.

Air Canada and United still dominate the majority of U.S.-Canada routes, so it's hard to see how anti-trust immunity helps consumers. But it certainly would make the airlines more formidable competitors.

It's nice to see United Airlines on the offensive again. Look for more flights on bigger jets in key business markets from United, which has fallen behind American and Delta in some important urban markets.
