Marriott Plans Laos Entry and Hindi Website as It Deepens Asia Push

Skift Take

For Marriott, growth in Asia isn’t just about planting more flags, it’s about speaking the customer’s language, both literally and strategically.

Marriott International will enter Laos next year and launch a Hindi-language website in India, the company’s Asia Pacific (excluding China) chief told Skift, marking the latest step in its regional expansion.

“We see incredible opportunities across the region. We'll be going into Laos as a new market next year and are currently working on a couple of potential opportunities there,” said Rajeev Menon, Marriott’s president for Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC).

This move into Laos signals Marriott’s continued focus on Southeast Asia, where countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand have become key growth engines for the group. Laos, though a small market, fits Marriott’s playbook of being an early entrant in emerging destinations with growing tourism potential.

Earlier this year, Marriott also announced its entry into Mongolia with the AC Hotels by Marriott Ulaanbaatar expected to open in 2027.
