The government shutdown was a big risk, but air travel is slowly getting back to normal in time for the holidays. Amtrak is getting a bump too.

A record 81.8 million people are expected to travel for Thanksgiving this year, according to a new report from AAA. 

The report notes some travelers may make last-minute travel adjustments if the record-long government shutdown, which ended late Wednesday, continues to disrupt flights. The FAA on Sunday announced that normal operations would resume Monday after more than a week of flight reductions at the country's busiest airports.
