Biffle’s sudden departure comes as Frontier has seen its profitability slump.
Frontier Airlines said CEO Barry Biffle will step down effective Monday, ending an 11-year run with the ultra-low-cost carrier.
James Dempsey, the president of Frontier, will take over as interim CEO. He joined Frontier in 2014 as CFO and had previously held senior roles at European low-cost-carrier Ryanair.
Biffle’s sudden departure comes as Frontier has seen its profitability slump. The ultra-low-cost carrier has struggled with a lack of demand as most customers have turned to international flights and premium products.
