How Live Tourism Fueled India’s Travel Industry This Year

What started as revenge travel post Covid has now changed into Indians taking every event and turning into an opportunity to travel.
Between January and November this year, the attendance at live events in India increased by 17%, according to Indian entertainment platform BookMyShow. In its 2025 year-end report, the platform said India held over 34,000 live events this year.
It said that the concert economy entered mainstream conversation in India. “Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres Tour in Ahmedabad demonstrated India's arrival on the global touring map with an estimated INR 6.41 billion ($75 million) economic impact spanning hospitality, retail, transport and tourism,” it said.
The live entertainment economy has led to smaller cities also seeking their shares. BookMyShow said live entertainment footfall increased significantly in non-metro cities across India: a 400% jump in Vizag, 230% spike in Vadodara, 188% increase in Guwahati, and 155% surge in Dehradun. Cities such as Rajkot, Jaipur, Kanpur, Shillong, Indore, and Nashik all witnessed a rise in demand for live entertain
