Trump Says U.S. Will Decertify Canadian Aircraft, Threatens 50% Tariffs

It is unclear if a decertification could impact aircraft beyond Bombardier’s business jets.

President Donald Trump said Thursday the U.S. is decertifying all planes made in Canada and threatened to levy a 50% tariff on aircraft made in the country. 

The post was directed at plane maker Bombardier, which is headquartered in Montreal. Bombardier produces business jets and previously manufactured regional jets. 

“We are hereby decertifying their Bombardier Global Expresses, and all Aircraft made in Canada, until such time as Gulfstream, a Great American Company, is fully certified, as it should have been many years ago,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “If, for any reason, this situation is
