The fact that it took Accor and IndiGo more than a year to roll out their loyalty partnership suggests there is a larger ambition to this than just swapping points.
Accor and IndiGo spent more than a year building a reciprocal loyalty partnership. But they say the loyalty exchange is only the beginning.
The companies on Monday announced members of ALL Accor and IndiGo BluChip could convert points across hotel stays and flights. But executives said the partnership will evolve beyond loyalty, with Accor eventually integrated into IndiGo's growing travel ecosystem, which already spans hotels, cabs and sightseeing experiences.
"The first proposition is making sure that the points seamlessly transfer," IndiGo's Chief Digital and Information Officer Neetan Chopra told Skift. "The second proposition, over the next few months and quarters, is building seamless experiences, which will be the defining part of the strategic partnership, not just the points exchange."
