This week travel startups announced more than $218 million in funding. Earlier this week, we reported that Plusgrade, a travel upselling tech company, had received a $150 million investment from Canadian pension fund manager Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CPDQ). Also earlier this week, Skift's Raini Hamdi reported that HolidayMe had raised a $16 million Series C funding round, led by Gobi Partners, to unlock Asia’s Muslim travel market. >>Bidroom, a hotel booking platform, said it had raised $17 million (€15 million) in a Series A round of fundraising. The family offices of several private investors primarily participated in the round. The Amsterdam-headquartered company has raised about $24 million (€21 million) to date. Bidroom attempts to stand apart from traditional online travel agencies as a cheaper distribution channel for hotels.
