To get Whitaker onboard just three months after his departure from the FAA is quite the coup from an increasingly bullish IndiGo.
The former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration is preparing to join the board of IndiGo. In a statement on Thursday, the Indian low-cost airline confirmed Mike Whitaker had been appointed as an independent director.
Confirmation of Whitaker’s appointment is subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals, however, these are generally considered a formality for such a role.
The former FAA chief announced in December that he would resign on January 20 – the day President Donald Trump was inaugurated. Whitaker did not say why he was resigning, however his five-year term was originally due to end in 2028.
