As Direct Travel sees it, the deal to acquire ATPI signals a new playbook: grow big enough to compete globally, but stay nimble enough to outmaneuver the giants.
Direct Travel, which was acquired last year by Concur co-founder Steve Singh and a group of investors, has now taken its own acquisitive step — buying its long-time strategic partner ATPI.
Both companies are privately held and the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Their combined sales are more than $6 billion, a figure that would have had them approaching the top 10 in Travel Weekly 2025 Power List of the largest travel sellers in the world. Separately, Direct Travel was #13 and ATPI #18, based on 2024 sales figures. For context, Amex GBT did $30.5 billion in sales in 2024, and that's before acquiring CWT this year.
“More important than the ranking is providing innovative technology, strong customer care, and acting as a strategic partner, things that matter most to clients,” Christal Bemont, CEO Direct Travel, told Skift.
