What Singapore F1 Says About Asia’s Appetite for Live Tourism

Engines aren’t the only things revving in Singapore this weekend, so are hotel rates, loyalty redemptions, and travelers’ appetite for the extras beyond the race.

The Singapore Grand Prix kicks off this weekend, with the race taking place on October 5 and practice session from October 3 onwards, drawing thousands of fans and pushing hotel rates higher across the city.

STR data for September 2023 and 2024 shows that the Singapore F1 event typically drives a revenue per available room (RevPAR) increase of about 100%.

“Asia is very much in the events business,” Marina Bracciani, JLL’s vice president of hotels research, Asia Pacific, told Skift. “Singapore's Formula 1 Grand Prix, for example, creates a city-wide festival atmosphere that extends beyond event days, allowing nearby hotels to command notable rate premiums.”
