Southwest Expects Boost From Bag Fees, Assigned Seating

Southwest is forecasting a profitable 2026 after ripping up its business model to implement assigned seating and baggage fees.

Southwest Airlines said Wednesday that the changes it has made to its business model and cost cutting initiatives gave the carrier a boost during the fourth quarter.

The airline reported a 7.4% increase to revenue and a 23.8% increase in profit for the fourth quarter. For 2025, Southwest said revenue increased 2.1% and profit decreased 5.2%
