Donations for Unpaid TSA Agents, Growing Lines: The Shutdown Hits U.S. Airports

Skift Take

Many airports are continuing to see long lines and wait times at security as TSA agents missed their first full paycheck during the partial shutdown.

Lines at security screenings continued to worsen at several airports across the country, while some airports started asking for donations to TSA agents, who missed their first paycheck last week due to the month-long partial government shutdown.

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the busiest in the U.S., saw crowded lines on Sunday. The airport advised travelers to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure.

Another video on TikTok showed long lines at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, also among the busiest airports in the U.S. Austin Bergstrom International Airport had lines for security that extended to outside the terminal over the weekend, and asked passengers to arrive at least 2.5 hours before their flight.
