No World Cup Bump: U.S. Tourism Down in June

While visitors from markets like the United Kingdom surged, total overseas visitation for June was down from last year.

New data from the United States government show the World Cup wasn’t enough to boost international arrivals for June.

Total overseas visitor arrivals were down 1.8% year-over-year to 2.8 million, following a 3.4% annual decline in June 2025. Foreign international air passenger arrivals barely budged with growth of just 0.2%, according to data released Tuesday from the National Travel and Tourism Office.  

Despite the downturn, the World Cup — which was held in 11 U.S. stadiums, along with five stadiums in Mexico and Canada — appeared to bolster visitation from certain markets.
