This week Bourdain succeeded in telling a new and intriguing story to viewers about an under-apperciated culture and cuisine that exists in a major U.S. city; a discovery as valuable as insights into foreign destinations.

This is bound to give Burma a big boost in tourism, at least in intent, though the tourism board has been silent on this opportunity for PR. If this was Tourism Australia we would have seen 15 press releases even before the show aired, then 10 more after to show the intent increase and dollar value attached to it.

"Parts Unknown" brings the world to life in a way that CNN has largely ignored on its U.S. channel. Bourdain gets to do what the news programs on CNN can't do: Dive into how real people live without featuring the opinions of ridiculous talking heads.

I'll endorse any travel-oriented app that includes Papaya King in New York City as a must-see place to visit.

Travel Channel is smarting from Bourdain's departure to CNN, and it apparently decided that the value of a good relationship with Cadillac was worth more than the cost of burning bridges with its one-time star.

With Bourdain's new CNN relationship it appears he'll be well-equipped to explore travel with a bigger budget and even bigger purview.
