Airbnb to Hold First National Host Summit as Policy Shifts Create Friction: SCOOP

It's a critical moment for Airbnb to do some explaining — and listening — to its largest hosts about policy changes. Many of the policy tweaks also dramatically affect individual hosts, who won't be represented.
Airbnb will hold its first-ever national Host Summit – an invite-only gathering for professional hosts – at a time when many are frustrated by recent policy changes.
The summit, which Skift is first to report, will run September 30 to October 2 at Airbnb’s San Francisco headquarters for professional hosts in North America. And it coincides with new policies on guest cancellations, payments, and property manager fees that many hosts argue favor guests.
Here's a rundown of some of the issues affecting hosts.
Cancellation Policy ChangesThe cancellation policy changes, including enabling some guests to cancel up to 14 days before check-in for a full refund, will be implemented on October 1 — during the host summit.
