The hospitality industry in general might be moving towards the mid-market segment, but The Oberoi Group is leaning hard into the luxury space, encouraged by growing middle class and high net worth travelers.
Indian luxury hotel chain Oberoi Hotels has a pipeline of 27 new properties in India and abroad. These hotels are scheduled to open by 2030, and all will be managed by Oberoi-parent EIH Limited through direct ownership, joint venture, or management contracts, the hotel group said during its earnings call Friday.
These hotels will add 2,100 keys to the company’s portfolio. Out of the 27 new properties, 18 will be in India. The new properties will be split across Oberoi hotels, Trident hotels, luxury boats and a Nile Cruiser, Vineet Kapur, the company’s chief financial officer, said at the earnings call.
“There will be a mix of both owned and managed. Owned hotels will be between our joint ventures and associates,” he added.
In continuation of its focus on an asset-light model, 19 of the new properties to be added by 2030 will only be managed by the company, and not owned. “Most of the additions will come in the 2028-29 year,” he added.&nb
