New Google Report Shows Indians Travel More, Spend More, and Choose Meaning Over Price

Indian travelers are redefining the global travel market with a shift from bargain hunting to identity-driven travel. As video, creators, and AI now steer decisions, for travel brands, keeping up isn’t optional anymore.

India is now one of the fastest growing travel markets, and the second largest after the U.S, according to insights shared by Google with Skift. Among the world’s top five travel markets, India is also one of the fastest expanding, Google said.

Travel confidence is surging, with 88% of Indians saying they are eager to travel, backed by a strong shift towards premium experiences, Google said in a report released on Wednesday.

The report: "Travel Rewired: Decoding the Indian Traveler," was created in partnership with market research company Kantar.

Cost concerns are easing as 72% of Indian travelers say price matters less for domestic trips, while 81% plan to splurge. International travel spending now averages 3.2 times what Indians spend on domestic trips.
