Delta’s latest order is an unusual one for the carrier — the only Boeing widebody in its fleet is the 767, a much older aircraft. After experiencing a slew of safety and quality issues over the past few years, the order also signals renewed confidence in Boeing’s turnaround efforts.
Delta Air Lines announced Tuesday it is ordering 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners as part of wider efforts to streamline its fleet and help with its international expansion.
Previously, Delta placed a big order for 100 Boeing 737 Max 10s, which is expected to receive FAA certification later this year. The carrier also has 30 more 787 Dreamliners on option.
