NYC Hotel Housekeepers’ Pay to Hit $61 an Hour

New York City hotel owners and the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council reached an eight-year contract that will lift average housekeeper pay above $100,000 a year, averting a threatened strike during the World Cup. 

The Hotel Association of New York City, which represents about 250 hotels, ratified the deal Monday. Union members vote Thursday on the contract.

The deal will boost the pay of 27,000 workers by more than 50% over eight years. Housekeepers go
