New Apple Feature Stores Passport Info in Digital Wallet

It's limited to domestic U.S. flights for now — but could still be helpful for the holiday travel season.

Apple on Wednesday launched Digital ID, a new way to pass through TSA checkpoints without a physical passport or ID in hand, at more than 250 U.S. airports. 

The new feature creates a digital ID in users' Apple Wallet based on information from their U.S. passport, and expands on a previous launch allowing users to pass through TSA with a digital wallet storing data from an eligible Real ID-compliant driver's license or state ID.

The update comes just in time for airports’ busy holiday travel season.
