Short-Term Rental Demand Climbing Ahead of World Cup

It’s not yet clear where most teams will be playing during the World Cup, but AirDNA is already tracking a surge in short-term rental demand in host cities like Guadalajara and Seattle.
Short-term rental booking demand for next summer’s World Cup is beginning to surge, according to new data from AirDNA shared exclusively with Skift.
The analytics firm's new tracker shows bookings for properties listed on Airbnb and Vrbo climbing more than six months ahead of the tournament in the 16 host cities and nearby destinations.
“In general, when you look at these urban markets, people don’t book far in advance,” said AirDNA chief economist Jaime Lane. “So the fact that we’re seeing so much demand booked already — people are planning ahead because of the World Cup.”
