Record demand and TSA staffing shortages are pushing airport operations to the breaking point. Deploying ICE agents could help at the margins — but it doesn’t solve the underlying problem.

Several airports facing severe TSA staffing shortages have stopped posting security wait times online as lines stretch into baggage claim areas and parking garages.

The severe shortages come as the Trump administration deployed ICE agents to assist with security at over a dozen airports in the U.S. on Monday — it did not appear their presence reduced wait times as videos on social media continued to show long lines throughout terminals.
