Air India Confirms CEO Exit. Third Airline Chief to Leave in a Month

Keeping Wilson in place until a successor is found is a sensible call, with Air India Express already without a permanent CEO, having two carriers without leaders simultaneously is not a risk the Tatas can afford.

Air India on Tuesday confirmed that CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson has resigned, though the exit has been in the making for some time. Skift had received similar information last month, though it was unable to independently verify those claims at the time.

According to Air India, Wilson informed Chairman N. Chandrasekaran of his intention to step down in 2026 as far back as two years ago. "Since then, [Wilson] has been working to ensure the organization and leadership team is on a stable footing for the transition. He will remain in the role until his successor is announced and in place," the airline said in a statement.

Air India board has constituted a committee to identify that successor in the coming months, the airline said.
