Loyalty programs are not just there to offer extra benefits to loyal customers, but to attract luxury spenders.

India’s businesses are venturing into more loyalty programs in the quest for increasing customer retention and growth.

The expansion of loyalty programs through partnerships is “central to how we drive deeper penetration and build everyday relevance in the country,” Khushnooma Kapadia, vice president of marketing for South Asia at Marriott International told Skift. 

Across India, travel and hospitality industry operators are offering increased loyalty programs as well as expanding their travel rewards into new spaces to tap into latent demand.

Last month, Marriott International’s loyalty program Marriott Bonvoy announced a partnership with Indian food delivery and convenience platform Swiggy.

Marriott Bonvoy’s partnership with Swiggy aims to boost its visibility and footfall by leveraging the quick-commerce company’s popularity.

In the 2024-25 financial year, Swiggy had 17.7 million average monthly transacting users
