IHG's newsest brand, Ruby, has a track record in Europe, but in the U.S., it’s starting from scratch.
IHG Hotels & Resorts is bringing its Ruby brand to the U.S., jumping into a crowded field of urban lifestyle brands.
The move comes as rivals and investors pour capital into similar concepts, such as Marriott's Moxy and CitizenM brands, Hilton's Tru and Motto brands, Hyatt's The StandardX, Wyndham's TRYP, Accor's Mama Shelter, and BWH Group's Vib.
“We’re going to bring it to the U.S. by the end of the year for franchising,” IHG CEO Elie Maalouf said last week at the Skift Global Forum. "Then we’re going to take it east."
IHG acquired Ruby in February for up to $305 million
