France managed to turn a post-Olympics travel surge into something more lasting.
France turned a challenging post-Olympics year into another record-breaking summer by minimizing the overtourism pitfalls that have plagued other destinations.
While final numbers are still being counted, French tourism is projected to contribute €266.2 billion ($312 billion) to GDP, up 3% over last year and 10% above the pre-pandemic level, said the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and Oxford Economics.
The French government aims to maintain momentum with a newly launched tourism strategy, the goal of which is to increase its international tourism earnings by 41% by 2030. Atout France, the national tourism development agency, introduced Adam Oubuih as its new director general this month.
